Kylie Minogue went through many different transformations in her journey from soap star to pop diva. She tried girl next-door, SAW puppet and bad ass rock chic, but Cant get you out of my head was where she found her niche. The song was unbelievably futuristic; Madonna would have literally killed for this tune. Its the sort of song you can imagine David Bowie releasing if he was in his 30s at the start of the century. Interestingly however, it was apparently rejected by the not so mighty S Club 7, which was just as well, because this was the song that was made for a true pop diva. Kylies Eve finally met her Adam. Whilst the video would be notorious for its glorification of her derrière, the song gave Kylie Minogue a sensuality that she just didnt have before. A perfect narration of the confusion that sets in when lust starts to grow into romantic attachment, this is the sound of the itch that just cant be scratched. It adopted the simplicity of the greatest Motown tunes to magical effect and added a wonderfully contemporary soundtrack. Revolving around two motifs I just cant get you out of my head and Na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na, this has one of the catchiest choruses ever written; surely the title is a reference to the song itself. And with it Kylie finally took her place in pop royalty.
