20 Most Underrated Classic Rock Songs Of All Time

20. Travelin Band - Creedence Clearwater Revival

As the 60's began to go down a more psychedelic direction, Creedence Clearwater Revival kept their rock and roll heart. Across their discography, hits like "Proud Mary" and "Up Around the Bend" embodied the pure spirit of rock and roll when the rest of the world was dropping acid. Though they may have gotten looked act as a "singles band," even the band's deep cuts could hold their own.

Coming from their hit album Cosmo's Factory, "Travelin Band" is CCR in their rawest form, with frontman John Fogerty shouting his brains out over a bluesy romp. Whereas the previous singles on the record like "Lookin Out My Back Door" sounded a bit more breezy, this tune sounds like it could have been ripped straight out of Little Richard's songbook, with the band's relentless energy owing something to one of rock and roll's founders. Once you've had enough of the actual meat of the song, the lead lines that Fogerty fires off are like sonic fireworks in the band's grand spectacle.

Psychedelia may have ruled the airwaves, but that didn't mean that old time rock and roll had been wiped out. Sometimes it takes one band for us to realize what made rock and roll so irresistible in the first place.
