20 Punk Rock Albums You Must Hear Before You Die
2. Never Mind The B******s, Here's The Sex Pistols - Sex Pistols
We've discussed Damaged, The Stooges, and London Calling, but almost no punk rock album out their can claim to be as iconic as the Sex Pistols' sole studio release, Never Mind the B******s.
When this album was released in late 1977, it shook England's music scene to its core. Those in power tried to suppress this record as much as they could (BBC even admitted years later to fixing the charts so as to prevent it from reaching #1), but it perceived, becoming an immortal symbol of counter-culture, rebellion, and punk rock as a whole.
From the energetic and catchy tracks like No Feelings and Problems, to the famously inflammatory, yet fantastic songs like Anarchy in the U.K. and God Save the Queen (the latter of which was banned by BBC for its title alone), this album possessed sheer energy unlike anyone had seen before.
Loud, proud, and incredibly controversial, the Sex Pistols truly made their only studio release count. Sure, a lot of the album is relatively tame by today's standards, but that doesn't mean we still can't enjoy the great music.
