While we can understand how some may assume that Manson is related to Garbage singer Shirley Manson, we still think it's a bit of a stretch. Those that believe that Brian Warner and Charles Manson have ties together though are definitely on the right track, although we still have to correct them too. While the "Manson" in Marilyn Manson does come from the serial killer, the two aren't related. They're just fans of each other. We probably spent more time trying to make sense of that scribbled note that Charles Manson sent the singer than Marilyn Manson himself did. The verdict: it was all complete gibberish. Now that that's cleared up, next time you hear of someone with the last name Manson, it's definitely just a coincidence.
