5 Artists Who May Have Slipped Under Your Radar

2. Dan Croll

With his boyish floppy hair, geeky glasses and just a hint of a Scouse accent, Dan Croll is only 23 years of age but is already destined for big things in 2014. His impressive music pedigree boasts studying at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) where his talent was so evident he was hand-picked to have a one-to-one session with LIPA founder Sir Paul McCartney. Dan is a well-executed musician who creates folk stirred with sophisto-pop which creates an utterly absorbing listen. He describes his €˜sound€™ as a mix of his acoustic upbringing balanced with his new-found love of digital electronic music. Having already had airplay on Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, he€™s already toured Europe this year and includes Paul Simon, Beirut and Metronomy in his list of influences. Check out the video for the rather lovely €˜Compliment Your Soul€™ track which sees Dan strumming his guitar with the chorus resonating around the huge hall filled with stuffed wild animals such as a Grizzly Bear and an Ostrich€”I€™m still trying to figure out the meaning behind the video but it accompanies the most sincerest of songs.
