3. Mmmbop - Hanson

One of the most polarizing songs to come from the 1990s, Mmmbop remains both loved and loathed. Towards the beginning, it features some surprisingly depressing messages about most friendships not lasting. Later we get a strange section about planting seeds and basically a list of what flowers they might turn into. And there's a bunch on nonsensical 'mmmbopping' along the way.

Band member Zac Hanson has given a couple of different explanations to the song. One being that it's supposedly about life being futile, another that it's referencing the passage of time.

These may or may not be accurate, but things seem a lot darker than what you would expect from a song that is entitled, again, Mmmbop.
