The basis of the song itself is a white guy who's real name is "Robert Van Winkle" convincing you he's "gangsta". For a short period of time Vanilla Ice seemed to have had several people convinced until he was outed as a total fraud. It's okay, though, because he later went on to bring "Ice Ice Baby" to a whole new generation by convincing people he was totally "Metal."
