Alter Bridge: 10 Awesome Tracks You've Never Heard

By Scott Tailford /

6. Down To My Last (One Day Remains)

Another one from the debut album, and the one that tends to get cast aside by Creed-haters due to some comparisons compositionally with their mega-hit Higher. Naturally that's not a bad comparison to make (Creed were far better than people gave them credit for), and here it's Myles' vocals that inject that quintessential element of humanity and passion behind the lyrics to make the whole thing soar like nothing else. Not only that but this easily has one of Tremonti's best solos too, an anthemic screamer that feels like it takes off the fretboard and does a few laps around the room before finishing. It's just a gorgeous and relatable piece that many AB fans point to as the high point of that entire album.
