4. What Is The 'Alter Bridge'?

Somewhat hiding in plain sight due to being the subject of the One Day Remains album cover, the real life 'Alter Bridge' is actually 'Alter Road', a stretch of road that links a more downtrodden part of Destroit, with the more affluent Grosse Pointe.

Described by author Kenneth T. Jackson as the "most conspicuous city-suburban contrast in the United States", guitarist and founder of the band, Mark Tremonti, - who grew up in Detroit - was always fascinated by the bridge itself, as it appeared to lead off into another world of possibilities.

Once Creed had imploded and he was looking to take a chance on another band, naming it 'Alter Bridge' only felt natural.
