Arctic Monkeys: 10 Underrated B-Sides (That Deserved To Be Album Tracks)

2. Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You (Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High, 2013)

AM was a seminal record, which propelled Arctic Monkeys from being British indie heroes to international rock'n'roll superstars, inspiring a number of imitators who just couldn't reach the same heights as the Sheffield legends (Duck FIzz, anyone?).

While the record still holds up seven years later, AM isn't quite as good as everyone seems to have remembered. The record particularly dips in the middle, where the mid-tempo trio of I Want It All, No.1 Party Anthem and Mad Sounds sticks out sorely against the energised tracks which mark AM's extremities.

Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You, more in line with tracks such as Snap Out Of It, would have provided some variation here. Its steady rhythm and use of Matt Helders' backing vocals is reminiscent of earlier records Favourite Worst Nightmare and Humbug, while its indulgent guitar riffs cement the song as being unmistakenly AM.
