The news we all knew was coming has come Daft Punks new album has been confirmed. After a number of weeks of, almost cruel, teasing since the rumours first began circling about a possible new Daft Punk album this year, the confirmation comes via iTunes. As said, it started with the rumours about the possibility of a new album (which was enough to get me excited), then there was the subtle change of their website by adding the Columbia Records logo to the bottom and of course there was this absolute tickle of a tease in the shape of this advert aired during Saturday Night Live : http://youtu.be/AN1ItiEDBpw Which was, no doubt, enough to send innumerable fans into orgasm as the tiny snippet hinted at a likely funk and disco inflection on the new album reminiscent of the duos seminal second album Discovery. After that there was the arrival of the billboards, like below : And now, thanks to iTunes, it has been confirmed with the title of Random Access Memories alongside a release date of May 20th. The confirmation came when the album suddenly appeared on the iTunes store, which you can see here, with the aforementioned title and release date with album artwork and a track list. Though the tracks remain nameless at the moment, they do have their runtimes up. Anyhow, watch the advert above on loop, stare at the artwork up top and wonder about those tracks could in their runtimes. Its time to get excited, I am especially as its really nice Daft Punk decided to release the album at the start of my birthday week. With any luck this will be a cue for a live tour, which I swear to God I will cut you for tickets for. Some friends of mine and I have sworn wed go to Paris if we have to see them (seeing as their so bloody sporadic). I mean business. Some classic Daft Punk to enjoy in the mean time. http://youtu.be/s9MszVE7aR4 http://youtu.be/L93-7vRfxNs http://youtu.be/sFZjqVnWBhc
