Signalling a change in direction for the band, this was Nicelback’s eighth album and their most pop orientated effort to date. Although it sold well, the album received a less than favourable response from critics, with music journalists calling it a step in the wrong direction.

Thumping, stomp tinged radio rock tunes such as ‘Edge of Revolution’ brought some energy to the record, while less memorable inclusions like ‘Get ‘Em Up’, ‘Satellite’ and ‘Miss You’ sadly dragged the record down.

However, the reputation of Nickelback being slightly cheesy is epitomized by this album with its soppy love songs and basic, borderline generic mainstream rock style. Out of the eleven songs featured on this record, no more than four are objectively good.

All-in-all, this is the least memorable, desirable and enjoyable album in Nickelback’s discography.
