Guns N' Roses: 15 Obscure Tracks You've Probably Never Heard

By Jay Anderson /

14. Heartbreak Hotel

Source: Unreleased demo You probably know Heartbreak Hotel as an Elvis song, and you probably recognize that Guns N' Roses were always big on doing cover versions of songs from the past, so it should come as no surprise that at one point, they would cover the King. As early as 1985 Guns were playing their cover of the Elvis hit live - and getting a huge crowd response. In 1994, Slash stated that he wished the band had recorded the song for their covers album The Spaghetti Incident?, saying to Kerrang! that "We used to do a killer version of that song." The song was a favourite of singer Axl Rose, who grew up in the midwest and often warmed with Elvis tunes. There is an unreleased demo of the band covering the track floating around, and several live bootlegs, but the band never officially released the song.
