5. "Rain" - Carnival Of Souls - The Final Sessions, 1997
Carnival of Souls - The Final Sessions was finished in 1996 but would never have seen the light of day except for the fact that by 1997, bootlegs of the album were being circulated by fans which created a demand. Kiss is not being a band to miss out on a financial opportunity and the album was released amidst the reunion excitement generated after the Unplugged session. Lyrically the tune, penned by Stanley, Kulick and Curtis Cuomo (who?) is the kind of navel gazing negativity that would've made any Seattle grunger proud. The album charted poorly when compared to the band's hits but Kiss had bigger reunion fish to fry and it mattered not. Several tracks however were standouts, Rain being among them; on it Kiss channels their inner Alice in Chains with the mid- tempo result being quite heavy.
