Mark Tremonti's 10 Best Guitar Solos

By Scott Tailford /

5. Down To My Last

Back to the first AB album from 2004 and determined to make an impact on the world with the first set of songs, everything was very riff-heavy, with soaring solos that had Mark pouring his all into every composition. Whilst the last 30 seconds or so of Metalingus is still the most outright-heavy thing they've ever put together, it's Down To My Last that was the first sign that not only did Tremonti have the chops to pull off a whole range of skills - but he could arrange them in a solo in such a way that's incredibly unique to only a handful of guitarists. Sure, anyone with a few years behind the strings can shred or bend a few high notes in a scale, but this solo really seems to contort and shape itself throughout its runtime, ending on a held note that's given some extra kick thanks to some very Van Halen-esque tapping that change the bend into that sweet, sweet harmonic sound any rocker knows and loves.
