4. Not Today

At time of writing, Not Today is the band€™s latest single, and while it has a bit more of a subdued intro than the other songs here, as soon as Lajon€™s vocals barricade their way into your cerebellum, there€™s a barrier for quality the band just never fail to hit. In an age where everyone from Trivium to Bring Me The Horizon are forgoing their past scream-heavy identities in favour of tapping into wider audiences, it€™s awesome to hear Sevendust push songs that feature some suitably affronting verse-vocals and crushing breakdowns alongside the bits you€™ll be humming later that day.

3. Death Dance

If there€™s one thing you can always point to Sevendust for, it€™s delivering a crunchy early 2000s vocal style alongside a soaring and incredibly uplifting chorus. Someone who doesn€™t get the credit he deserves though, is lead shredder Clint Lowery. Not one for hogging the spotlight €“ nor do Sevendust€™s hard rock compositions lend themselves to such a thing €“ there€™s a lot to be said about a guitarist who knows exactly how to weave intricate and memorable patterns throughout a song, without veering too much into solo territory. This factors into a great section at the close of the song that€™s emblematic of this, and it€™s something that makes you very glad he returned back in 2013.
