The Beatles: 10 Best Solo Songs

By Sam Dawson /

2. My Sweet Lord - George Harrison

Of all the solo Beatles songs on this countdown, My Sweet Lord was the first to reach number 1. Indeed, fun fact, it reached number 1 twice, with the song being rereleased in 2002 following Harrison€™s death. Topping charts all over the world in 1970-71, Harrison really called upon his Asian lifestyle influences for this one, creating, like much of his work, an incredibly spiritual gem. As ever, Harrison€™s guitar is fantastic, subtle but effective, and his lyrics insightful. He did come into a bit of trouble following this song's release, mind you, with shouts of plagiarism sounding out due to My Sweet Lord€™s similarity with the The Chiffons€™ He€™s So Fine, but that aside, this is truly one of the best Harrison€™s ever produced, and that€™s counting his time with The Beatles, too.
