The Doors Top 10 Tracks Of All Time

10. Wintertime Love

On The Record In some ways this track from the band€™s third offering, Waiting For The Sun, compounds why some critics (Rolling Stone called it a €œrespectable, if unimpressive, third album€) and fans of Morrison and co€™s edgier material didn't take to this softer LP. But for those that revel in the pop jangles of opener €˜Hello I Love You€™, the flamenco guitar masterclass of €˜Spanish Caravan€™ and call to arms anthem, €˜Five To One€™, this first entry on our list will make perfect sense. On repeated listen, everything about this unabashed waltz clicks into place, as Morrison croons his way through a tale of soon to be requited love, against the backdrop of some sterling work from Ray Manzarek on what was the first Doors album to feature his now famous Gibson G-101 organ. Short but oh so sweet. Waxing Lyrical €œCome with me dance, my dear/ winter's so cold this year/and you are so warm/ my wintertime love to be.€ Simple and beautiful, this verse is a merry go round depiction of a guy getting the girl.
