Following its release in March 2019, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who hadn't heard Billie Eilish's 'Bad Guy' pretty much anywhere on the globe, as the song smashed charts worldwide. Well, perfect for a ska adaption, punk band The Interrupters would record their own cover of the song after it became a hit while playing the festival circuit - including at Slam Dunk and Download Festival - during that very summer.

One year on, though, and the cover has blasted back into the limelight - thanks to Netflix series Umbrella Academy!

If you're unfamiliar with The Interrupters, don't worry, we've got you covered. The band, fronted by Aimee Interrupter, who's flanked by husband Kevin Bivona and his younger twin brothers - Justin and Jesse - filmed their cover of Bad Guy at Ship Rec Studios. As the band would reveal, though, they would never have imagined the success would come one year later thanks to The Umbrella Academy - the TV adaption of My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way's graphic novel.

“We are so blown away and grateful for the amount of love our “Bad Guy” cover has been receiving since being featured in season 2 of The Umbrella Academy! We are big fans of Billie’s music. We started covering “Bad Guy” while on tour in the summer of 2019. The song is SO FUN to play live so when we had the chance to do a session at Ship-Rec studios in Los Angeles we thought it would be the perfect song to record. Here it is captured live in one take, we hope we did it justice.”

Since its appearance on the hit show, UK streams of The Interrupters' version of Bad Guy have increased by 250% compared to the previous week - with a similar growth shown worldwide with one million streams over the course of seven days! The track peaked at #18 in the Global Shazam Charts and at #14 in the UK.
