Another track from 'Innuendo' this song was originally written with the intention of having featured on Brian May's solo album 'Back to the Light', which May was planning to release for a few years prior. Mercury asked if he might be allowed to sing vocals on it and when May heard the result he allowed the track to become a Queen track. A live version of the song from Brian May features on the album 'Live at the Brixton Academy'. The video for the song was highly edited due to Mercury's failing health. The footage of him in a yellow sweater was filmed in April 1991 while the other footage of him was recorded in late 1990. This was subsequently one of the last pieces of colour film ever recorded of Mercury barring some test footage of later video shoots. Due to the bands decision from The Miracle album onward to split royalties four ways (regardless of who wrote the track specifically) the group are all credited with the composition of this piece and profit from it as such. The electronic press kit released for the 'Headlong' video mentions that behind the scenes footage was shot on November 23rd 1990 - exactly one year to the day that Mercury would announce he had AIDS publicly.
