Trivium - What The Dead Men Say Review: Every Song Ranked Worst To Best
10. IX
It feels unfair to rank IX so low on the list as it’s the instrumental opener to the album providing but a taste of what’s to come. The song is seeped in grandiosity and like the opening to a play slowly builds and expands like a medley of what’s to come, it sets expectations high and provides the album with the beginning statement it deserves.
Beginning with an almost acoustic sounding riff, the entire band join in and turn in into the kind of heavy metal loving, thrashy and complex playing that they have only gotten better at over the years.
Sitting at only 1:58 minutes in length, this instrumental track is the perfect length to both show you a taste of the catchiness that’s to come and lead into the brilliant What The Dead Men Say.
IX gives off every impression that the band want this album to be a classic, grand metal achievement, and it definitely is.
