We're not exactly what you would call germophobes, but putting our lips on a rock that millions of other people have kissed doesn't sound like a good time. And all because some stupid legend said that the Blarney Stone will make you extra talkative and charming if you get all up close and personal with it? That sounds like a scam if we ever heard one. Not to mention the fact that it's probably the world's leading spreader of mouth herpes. Basically, you go there, stand in a ridiculously long line, and get dipped over the stone (which is rather precariously placed) by a worker who's just looking to get through the line of sweaty tourists as fast as possible. Look, Ireland is a beautiful country, and even just exploring the extensive grounds of Blarney Castle would probably be a better use of your time. In Cork, we recommend visiting the Cork County Gaol, which has fantastic views of the city, and the Blackrock Castle and Observatory.
