10 Celebs You Wouldn't Expect To Be Republicans
In honour of Clint Eastwood and Jenna Jameson, here are 10 more celebs you wouldn't expect to be Republican supporters.
...their eyes are so close together, the left eye is in the right socket and the right eye is in the left socket... - Bill HicksThat is the usual image that the mind conjures when you try to picture your average Republican party supporter, that and someone who is extremely rich and out of step with the struggles of daily life. Who else would vote for a party where its vast majority of members believe that creationism should be taught in schools, universal health care is a bad thing and that gays shouldn't be allowed to marry. They also seem to be obsessed with other peoples sex lives. During the recent race to see who would be the the Republican presidential candidate, Rick Santorum who was hoping to picked came out with statements like to show us he was still stuck in the 1950's;
"One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers of contraception in this country.... Many of the Christian faith have said, well, that's okay, contraception is okay. It's not okay. It's a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be."He also compared homosexuality to bestiality, incest and pedophilia;
If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything. Does that undermine the fabric of our society? I would argue yes, it does. It all comes from, I would argue, this right to privacy that doesnt exist in my opinion in the United States Constitution. In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. Thats not to pick on homosexuality. Its not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing.Before you start accusing me of only picking on Santorum, Alaska State Rep. Alan Dick said If I thought that the mans signature was required required, in order for a woman to have an abortion, Id have a little more peace about it and Arizona State Rep. Terry Proud proudly announced that Personally Id like to make a law that mandates a woman watch an abortion being performed .'' Now we come to Mitt Romney, the man who won the vote to be the Republican presidential candidate and hopes to make Obama a one term president. He is also the man who thought it would be a good idea to put the family dog in a carrier and strap it to the roof of his car and go on a 12-hour road trip. When criticized by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for the cruel act, he said "PETA is not happy that my dog likes fresh air." And to show that that he will be a President that cares for all Americans, in January this year he stated "I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there." So for a Party that's included everyone's favorite former President George W. Bush and ''Soccer Mom'' Sarah Palin, something doesn't sit right when someone like Clint Eastwood publicly backs Romney by saying "God, this guy, he's too handsome to be governor, but he does look like he could be president," and "Now more than ever do we need Gov. Romney. I'm going to be voting for him," I know Eastwood is free to vote for who ever he wants and hold views that we may not agree with but there is something about the Clint Eastwood image just doesn't fit with a right wing conservative party like the Republican Party. It is perhaps former Queen of Porn Jenna Jameson who gave us the real reason why high profile celebs would endorse a person like Mitt Romney. When asked to explain why she was backing Romney's bid for the white house, she said "When you're rich, you want a Republican in office." So in honor of Clint Eastwood and Jenna Jameson, here are 10 more celebs you wouldn't expect to be Republican supporters. But keep in mind, these left leaning views are my own and no way represent WhatCulture as a whole.
