Another food tradition for you here but a lot less appetizing than a bucket of KFC. Iin Greenland Christmas revellers like to enjoy a nice winter snack that is made from auks (basically penguins but cuter) wrapped in the hollowed-out body of a seal. Barf. The exact process is pretty strenuous and it involves placing 500 auks, feathers and all, into a seal carcass. You sew the seal back up and cover it in grease. Then you bury the seal-auk combination and place a large rock on top to prevent air from going in or out. Now wait for SEVEN months. The birds will have fermented; the insides will be near liquid, which makes them ready to be sucked out for Christmas. Apparently it tastes like really really really old Stilton cheese but I won€™t be the one to find out if that€™s true. If you€™ve ever complained about your grandma€™s fruitcake just count your lucky stars of Bethlehem that you don€™t live in Greenland.
