We now hop over to Venezuela where they are in the running for my favourite Christmas tradition out of this line-up. In many cities, towns and rural neighbourhoods children and adults hold a Patinatas night where everyone goes out onto the streets with their bikes, roller blades and skateboards. Theres music, lights, plenty of food, carols, bag pipes and everyone is out for a good time. It took off in the 50s, after the more traditional festivals fizzled out. People would go to Church in their Sunday best, attend the religious ceremonies and then the go out to celebrate the holiday season. The most famous Patinatas is in the city of Maracaibo on the famous Obelisk square.
