Who Was He: British Royal Navy flag officer, famous for having one eye and one arm. Career Highlights: Nelson was instrumental in many of Britain€™s early victories in the Napoleonic Wars against France. He won a decisive victory over Napoleon at the Battle of the Nile, to prevent France from controlling the Mediterranean. He subsequently led Britain€™s navy to its greatest victory in the Battle of Trafalgar.
