Farming is as much a way of life as is an occupation. That being said, it is a deceptively dangerous way of life.

In the States, some of the most recent data suggests that 260 farmers were involved in fatal injuries in 2016 alone.

Despite what we see on television, farming consists of more than just milking cows and taking leisurely rides through the field on a tractor. In truth, there is a great deal of intense manual labor and heavy equipment involved. Not to mention having to be exposed to the elements for extended periods.

Many farming-related accidents (44.6% in 2016) involve motorized vehicles. Tractor rollover, as it's called in agriculture circles, is one of the most common occurrences. As the name suggests, tractor rollover involves a tractor rolling over (sometimes on top of the unfortunate individual driving it). Slip, and falls are also a major hazard.

Lastly, the fact that many farms are in remote locations means that it takes longer for medical assistance to arrive, which increases the likelihood that an injury could end up being fatal.
