10 Reasons To Stop Hating On J.K. Rowling
5. The Harry Potter Movies Opened The Door For Other Adaptions
The Harry Potter movies did not have the depth and wonder of the novels, yet they were generally solid adaptations. Crucially, their financial success opened the door for many other franchises.
Granted, the Twilight movies weren’t exactly the apex of filmmaking, but they did have plenty of fans across the globe.
There were, however, some other adaptations that were much more satisfactory. The Hunger Games movies (especially the first two) had very few faults, and were actually better adaptations than Harry Potter due to the shorter length of their source material. More recently, Ready Player One also proved to be a hit with audiences, with Steven Spielberg’s stylish direction creating an immersive experience for moviegoers.
Had Harry Potter not been so popular, such adaptations would not have had the same financial appeal, and therefore may not have been made.
