Everybody loves a cracking bit of fiction, yes? Bookshelves the world across are groaning under the weight of invented tales that were written to delight, enthral and mesmerise us. And there are plenty of Dan Brown books out there too. Sadly, it would seem that the openly fictional isn't enough to capture the imaginations of some people. They have to go one step further and seek out the weird and the wonderful in everyday life too, hence the massive popularity of conspiracy theories. No matter how baseless or downright outlandish a conspiracy theory can appear, if enough people repeat something there will always be somebody ready to embrace it as the Gospel truth. Here we look at ten of the most absurd. We'll be leaving out biggies like the JFK assassination which may carry the suggestion of evidence in some form, and we'll be ignoring classics like the faked Moon landings due to sheer overfamiliarity.
