I get the feeling that there would have been something on the news suggesting that everybody stay indoors for safety. I guess that, just as with anywhere, there are people that will disregard the meteorologist's warnings and embrace horrible weather like it's a cuddly kitten. News flash (no pun intended) - it's not. Mother nature is a terrifying thing, and will rip you apart no matter how nice you are to her. Apparently this woman had grocery shopping that wasn't important enough to do the day before, but too important to wait until the street actually existed again.
