Mothers who decline to sit down with their children and explain a bit about their bodily functions (cringe though it may be) deserve no more than a telekinetic maniac child for whom life has given nothing but misery. Margaret White is in no way a good icon for motherhood, and does nothing to appease her mentally unstable daughter. She's one of King's worst parents, with readers filled with a pure hate for the woman right from the start of the novel.
