10 Terrifying Prehistoric Creatures We Should See In A Movie
10. Meganeura
Dragonflies can be rather intimidating creatures if you dislike creepy crawlies, as they are large flying insects that although small for an animal, are giant amongst bugs. Anyone who feels this way likely wouldn't sleep for weeks if they ever encountered this long since gone insect.
Meganeura is a genus of an extinct insect species that lived during the Carboniferous period. They resembled the modern-day dragonfly in every aspect, except for the fact that they could grow to be between 25-28 inches. This would put them at a size that is equivalent to a lot of contemporary birds, making Meganeura one of the largest known flying insect species to have ever existed.
These terrifying creatures certainly wouldn't make for a horrifying single predator. Still, the thought of a pack of them chasing after a ground of survivors, akin to Hitchcock's The Birds would undoubtedly be a film that made its audiences uncomfortable.
There are many modern creatures who used to exist in much larger sizes during the prehistoric period, but this one has to be one of the creepiest.
