Islam was an even more sensitive subject back then than it is today. The few comedians who were broaching the topic were shockers like Frankie Boyle, whose material was deliberately antagonistic. Ross reminded us that comedy is about being silly, having fun, and having a laugh. The clip ends with Ross dancing on stage singing Cheeky Muslim to the tune of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It's inoffensive, silly, inclusive, and hilarious. Its a minor act, but it showed up the silliness of fearing to talk about certain things on stage, and reminded us to stop taking everything quite so seriously at a time when things seemed very serious indeed.
