4. When He Taught Us How (Not) To Talk To Fifty Cent
This is one of those clips in which a comedian says what everyones thinking, and its brilliant just because of that. The premise of this bit is that: a) 50 Cent has a stupid name, and b) he says it in a stupid way (by calling himself Fiddy Cent). These are what philosophers call universal truths. Ross illustrates his theories by imagining himself seeing the rapper in the street and repeatedly yelling Fiddy! at him. It doesnt translate brilliantly to text. But he makes it work. Its great evidence of the fact that comedy doesnt have to be clever or witty to be funny. All it takes is a long-haired Geordie repeatedly shouting Fiddy! in a silly voice.
