Not only was Deschanel born into a famous family, she was surrounded by acting talent from a young age. During her high school days, she was friends with Kate Hudson and Jake Gyllenhaal who she went on to be co-stars with during Almost Famous and The Good Girl respectively. However, she had to go through a lot of travelling around at a young age due to her father shooting films on location: "I'm really happy now that I had the experience, but at the time I was just so miserable to have to leave my friends in Los Angeles and go to places where they didn't have any food I liked or things I was used to."
