Captain America is widely regarded as the one who set the standard when it comes to doing bad... er, good? ...to venting one's justifiable frustrations against Hitler in works of fiction. In truth, he was a product of the time, and when it comes to World War II-era Cap, people probably associate the image of him giving Adolf a fat lip as more iconic than anything he ever did against the Red Skull. The Red, White, and Blue values of America standing tall against the Nazi regime is just the sort of propaganda that was needed at the time, and remains firmly etched in the minds of comic book fans. Incidentally, it should be noted that this wasn't just a striking cover image- Steve Rogers would also perform his appointed duties to the Fuehrer within the pages of his book as well: It was just what was needed at the time, but the reason it doesn't rank higher? Well, as cathartic as it is to see Hitler's head go "KRONTCH" against his subordinate's, times have changed and tastes have evolved. Simply put, just smacking Hitler around if given the opportunity is the least you can do, and others have done so much more when given the chance.
