People who went to primary school in Jarrow know that there were only four viable destinations for a class day out: Sunderland Glass Centre, the local fire station, the Shields ferry, and the holy grail - Bede's World. For those who don't know, Bede's World is a museum and farm dedicated to the life of Jarrow's most famous resident - the Venerable Bede. It's not very good in all honestly, especially if you're 6 to 11 years old, but that didn't stop teachers sending out permission slips twice a term.
