There are some addictions out there that you probably have but wouldn't necessarily call it an addiction. Yeah okay, you probably drink more coffee or fizzy pop than you should but you do it in public, it isn't a massive secret and it's hurting nobody. If you're drinking 17 litres a day, you should probably seek help. Addiction is part and parcel of modern life: you're likely to know a few people who claim to be addicted to food, exercising, shopping or Netflix and you just accept it is part of their eccentricities. On the other hand though there are some addictions that you might not be aware are actually 'a thing.' There are many people out there who are addicted to things that are slightly weirder than drinking a few can of Diet Coke every day. Apparently human complexity now includes drinking paint and nail polish and eating drywall. Pray for humanity. Quite how these people are still alive is no small wonder. Do their families support them eating chairs? Are they not actively seeking help on their behalf? Either way, you're never going to be completely comfortable walking in on your housemate for fear that you'll have to discuss why they're eating all the lightbulbs. But then at least these strange addictions will probably leave you feeling relatively normal after discovering what the rest of the world are up to.
13. Eating Glass
That's right, glass - that pointy, hurty stuff that makes you bleed. It defies logic how eating glass could be even remotely pleasurable but apparently, people who are addicted to eating things like lightbulbs find that they get a comforting, warm sensation when they eat it. Which is presumably their insides liquifying... The addiction is known as hyalophagia and there is one man in Ohio who has eaten over 250 light bulbs and 100 glasses over four years. The danger of eating glass is, as you can imagine, pretty high in terms of it damaging your insides or ripping your oesophagus. And that's not even to mention the other end...
