If anybody works in Tesco and has friends that name other supermarkets as their place of employment, it's startling how truly happy they seem. Instead of the mountains of problems you have to deal with on a daily basis, they seem relatively chilled out, giving a stark reminder that working in a shop is supposed to be easy peasy. Also, what is with those damn box cutters? Why do managers always insist on handing you one on your first shift, with a look that lets you know this is a prized possession, almost like King Arthur removing Excalibur from stone, then handing it to the nearest pleb passing by. It's just a tool to open stock, not the Holy Grail. Those aforementioned pals seem to always be equipped for the job, whilst Tesco workers can kiss goodbye to nails within hours of starting their new employment.
