Vultures and their cousins, condors, are amazing for two reasons. Firstly, they eat carrion, which is highly beneficial for us, and they dont get sick from it. Vultures have extremely strong stomach acids and are resistant to diseases like botulism, anthrax and cholera. If you eat a quarter pounder from McDonalds youll end up in the toilet for the rest of the day. Secondly, vultures will throw up a foul smelling gruel to scare away would be predators, like raccoons or domestic dogs. If they have good aim, they can even get it into a predators eyes, burning the would-be attacker. Thats a lot easier than asking your attacker to politely wait while you pull that can of mace out of the bottom of your purse.
