15 Things You Miss About Being A Kid At Christmas

By Chris Peet /

13. €œSleeps€

As a child during the month of December, this is how you€™d refer to time passing. Everything was all about €˜sleeps€™. There are fifteen sleeps until Santa arrives; there are nine sleeps until unbridled festive chaos. And after the day itself, there are 365 sleeps until Christmas. This is just the way your mind worked as a kid and it made Christmas all the more exciting. Unfortunately, and somewhat alarmingly, this reference to the passing of the days leading up to Christmas seems to have endured for a small, troubled part of the general population. In order to pitifully retain that childlike exuberance, some fully formed adults €“ who pay taxes, drive, occasionally vote €“ still refer to the month of December in this way. It€™s chilling and deeply disturbing, and it should be noted here that any adult who does this should be sent to a work camp for the duration of the festive period.
