American author Morgan Robertson penned Futility, Or The Wreck of the Titan in 1898 - a book in which he predicted the world's largest ship, described as "unsinkable" and "one of the greatest accomplishments of mankind", carrying "as few lifeboats at the law allowed", collided with an iceberg 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland. Fast-forward 16 years, and The Titanic - meeting all of that criteria - infamously sank in exactly the same manner.
