6. Capone Worked As A Boxing Promoter During The 1920s

After making the move from New York City to Chicago at the behest of gangster Johnny Torrio in the early-1920s, Capone began working as a bouncer at a brothel. However, within months he was registered in the sports pages of the local newspapers as a "boxing promoter" - helping to nurture some of the best Chicago talent. Like so many other parts of his business dealings, it was the gambling and ability to perform illegal activities behind the scenes that made him become involved with the sport - as well as a genuine love for boxing.
