Walt Disney PicturesWhether it's painting the town red until the early hours or pulling assignment all-nighters with a multipack of energy drink, university yields unique experiences every day, but then the fun has to end and at some point, every student has to leave the Jagerbombs and lecture theatres behind and return home. After spending so long adjusting to a new, independent lifestyle, it's inevitably jarring to be back amongst the familiar comforts of home. New friends are once more replaced by old ones and the exciting environs of your favourite bars are replaced by the ones you used to sneak into as a teenager. The return home for the summer is bittersweet: of course it's nice to be around family again and there are certain luxuries that just aren't available when you're supporting yourself on a student loan and a meagre part-time wage. There is, however, a certain strangeness to the swift and abrupt change of scenery. University students have to adapt very quickly to being back home for the summer. A lot has changed back home and only some of it is good. There are a number of shocks to the system that only students back home for the summer can truly identify with.
