To clarify for the outsider; wool is short for woolyback, which refers to any person born outside of Liverpool that still bears the scouse accent. The term was supposedly first used to describe miners from the surrounding areas who would use sheep fleece as padding for their backs when carrying bags of coal. Today, the word wool is used exclusively by kidders as a pejorative term to describe basically anyone in Merseyside that wasn€™t shat directly out of one of the Liver Birds.
