It seems Bush's presidency was one of extreme highs and extreme lows if his approval ratings are any barometer for judgement. Following the 9/11 attacks, Bush recorded the highest presidential approval ratings in history - topping 90% in the immediate aftermath of the terrorist atrocity, and maintaining figures between 80%-90% in the four months following. However, Bush's disapproval ratings also reached the highest-ever recorded by a Gallup poll in spring 2008 - with 69% of those polled in April of that year disapproving of the President's performance.
