8. The Rest Of The World Not Always Quite 'Getting' Our Sense Of Humour
Northern people are a special breed. We have our priorities straight. The few North East comedians to have made the public eye have done so due to their sharp, honest wit, and (offensively to some) frank look at life. We've spawned some comedy greats: Ross Noble, Vic and Bob, Chubby Brown and Chris Ramsey to name a few. Sarah Millican summed us up in one statement: "I think I'm aware of my flaws and I've accepted them. And anyone who doesn't... can f*ck off". Yes, the watching world love that kind of behaviour on TV. But when you're say, at a wedding, and crack a typical North East wisecrack, it's not unusual to see a sea of raised eyebrows.
