30 Awesome Reasons To Stay Alive In 2016

23. Oculus Rift (Mar 28) & PlayStation VR (Q1/Q2)

2016 is the year of VR, as two long-hyped virtual reality headsets hit consumers, first the Oculus Rift, launching for a controversial $599 in late March, while Sony will unveil their PS4-based VR project a few months later, almost certainly at a far more competitive price point. The year will see a huge VR war between the two products, with Sony boasting that they have 100 games in development for the platform with 200 developers signed up. Will the Rift manage to break through to the mainstream, or will the asking price simply be too much for a project that consumers cannot easily try out for themselves? It's going to be an interesting year for the tech, though will by no means be make or break: public awareness is still so generally limited, and as the price falls over the coming years, it will become a more attractive proposition.
