5 Reasons To Enjoy Whiskey In Autumn

5. Those Encroaching, Long, Cold, Winter Nights

Forget those magical Christmas card scenes, with the low sunlight glistening ephemerally like stardust off the snow-sheeted landscape, red-breasted robins adorably flitting between the naked yet graceful boughs, and inquisitive does tentatively stepping between the trees, their padded-feet making sweetly soft imprints in the blank canvas: winter is rubbish.

Autumn is nothing but a prelude to winter, and in some years it practically acts like a free trial. But the truth is, winter is generally bloody horrible. Yes, it has its moments, but let's face it: for the most part it's spent freezing your balls off, getting up early to scrape the car, and Britain's Got Talent every single day until Christmas. It's almost not even worth getting out of bed.

One of the most - maybe only - enjoyable things you can do as the nights draw in is wrap up warm by the fire with a cosy blanket, and treat yourself to a nice shot of whiskey to, as they say, "warm the cockles". If that's not a classic winter scene, what is?
