To the outside world, and almost every non-bartender I've spoken to, the response to saying you are a bartender is always the same. It roughly goes along these lines. "What do you do?" "I bartend at this bar/club" "Oh man, thats so awesome, that must be so much fun, it'd be like getting paid to go out". Yes, because as pretty much every bartender knows working is exactly like being paid to go out. It is in fact almost the opposite, you are still being paid, but you very rarely see any "out" time. You may be working in one of the coolest bars in town, but you are usually too busy working to actually enjoy your night. Most bars have people working over week's end, so while everyone's day jobs give them the opportunity to unwind by getting hammered over the weekend, bartenders are at work while all their friends are usually partying it up. I'll concede there are some cool things about being a bartender, and it can be a lot of fun. However, with the amount of drunken idiots you come across, it can kill the enjoyment of any work place. The following is the 8 customers that every bartender will have come across, or at least heard about that are incredibly annoying.
